Horrified Aldi shoppers say popular 65p sauce 'tastes like mud'

Supermarket giant Aldi has come under fire with shoppers over one of its most popular items. Aldi sells countless jars of the 65p sauce every year, and it's considerably cheaper than rival Dolmio.

Aldi's Cucina Bolognese Pasta Sauce is a hit with shoppers looking to make a bolognese on a budget. By comparison, a 500g jar of Dolmio costs £2 at ASDA and Tesco.

But some shoppers have been left feeling ill after eating Aldi's Cucina Bolognese Pasta Sauce. One said it tastes like 'mud'.

According to MyLondon, several shoppers have taken to social media to complain about the budget pasta sauce. One shopper agreed: "Me, it tastes like mud! I wasted a whole meal yesterday as I didn’t realise until I’d put it in."

Another wrote: "My daughter loves this sauce for Bolognese … I made this Saturday and we both couldn't eat it for that exact reason it had a awful taste to it", as a third chimed in: "I had exactly the same tonight, it had a really funny smell/taste to it."

Others were not so lucky and digested the food. One shopper claimed: "I have had this problem I have always used them but lately it's not right my four kids an me said the same thing when I cooked it." Someone else, who suffered the same fate, said: "We had this sauce the other night, and it tasted funny."

An Aldi spokesperson said: “Our Cucina Bolognese Pasta Sauce is incredibly popular, and complaints of this nature are extremely rare. We would encourage any customer who is not fully satisfied with this product to return it to their local Aldi store for a full refund.”
