Horrific Auckland motorway crash caught on camera, 50-year-old woman charged

A motorist has been charged with careless driving after a dramatic collision on an Auckland motorway which was captured on a motorist's dashcam.

Police said they had charged a 50 year-old woman over the crash near the Esmonde Rd off-ramp on Labour Day.

The woman, who faces a charge of careless driving causing injury, will appear in court next month.

Dashcam footage shows a car narrowly missing a crash as it attempts to merge on to the motorway before the same car is seen violently swerving into another vehicle, leading to that car flipping through the air.

The dashcam owner told Mediaworks: "It was just very shocking to see that."

A police spokesperson said the driver of the car which flipped was taken to North Shore Hospital with minor injuries.

Photos taken at the scene showed ambulances attending and the vehicle that rolled with a badly damaged roof.
