A "horrendous" littering problem near a McDonald's in Edwalton has greatly improved after the council installed new bins.
Since McDonald's opened off the Wheatcroft Island in December 2020, litter has been reported in Melton Road and at the site's entrance in Landmere Lane, a problem Rushcliffe Borough Council's leader said was "unacceptable".
Now, with the addition of three large bins, the problem is almost totally fixed.

Mike Bell, site manager of the Wheatcroft Business Park, says the litter situation has definitely improved.
He said: “At the minute 99 per cent of people use the bins that the council put in for us.
“It’s all quite good and I empty the bins which was the deal.
“The bins have 100 per cent helped. Before I’d be pulling my hair out but now I don’t have a problem.
“It’s definitely more relaxed.
“I think it's solved the litter issue.”
The site manager explained that beforehand the rubbish was mainly from McDonald’s, but now it’s a combination.
He added: “We always get the few who like to drop their rubbish.
“It’s a mix now, it is still McDonald's rubbish and the new housing estate across the road.
“You also get young kids coming here, having a drink and dropping their stuff.
“On the whole it has eased.”
