Name a cockroach after an ex for Valentine’s Day at Brookfield Zoo

Have an ex who won't bug off? Go ahead and name a cockroach after them.

Brookfield Zoo Chicago is once again offering the opportunity to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after anyone — perhaps an ex-significant other — for a $15 donation this Valentine’s Day season.

The fundraiser campaign lasts until Feb. 14.

People who donate will receive a certificate of naming and their first name will be presented alongside their named cockroach on a naming board outside the Hamill Family Play Zoo.

Names can be submitted at brookfieldzoo.org/cockroach. To appear on the naming board, names must be submitted by 5 p.m. Feb. 5.

Since the zoo launched its cockroach naming fundraiser 2020, it has raised more than $50,000 to support animal welfare, conservation and habitat preservation at Brookfield Zoo Chicago.
