Hope Technology has launched a selection of new and as always exquisite-looking components, including a stunning-looking new Bronze color choice across its current range of products. Since the 1980s, Hope Technology has been crafting its vast range of components including the Pro 5 hubs, XCR brakes, and Fortus wheelsets – products that are often seen as a benchmark when it comes to some of the best mountain bike components available.
So what's new? I had a look over the new goodies to find out more...
Hope Carbon crankset
First up is the long-awaited carbon version of the Hope Evo crankset. The Carbon crank has been designed to take advantage of everything carbon fiber offers when it comes to the best MTB cranksets. Hope adds that this new crankset as well as being lightweight will also ensure an optimum balance between ride feel, stiffness, and isolation from trail chatter. There is a new foam core too – which contributes to absorbing impacts and dampening vibrations.
Weight is claimed to be around 487g with 32t chainring, and for comparison, its popular aluminum Evo crankset weighs in at 565g. Hope says the weight is kept down by using a unique construction method including T700 fibers that give an optimum strength-to-weight ratio.
Elsewhere long life and easy servicing are built into the Carbon crank. Featuring an outer fabric aimed to deliver enhanced abrasion resistance and retain the unique ‘Hope’ carbon aesthetic. Hope also says they have future-proofed its new product with replaceable pedal threads, plus axles and easily interchangeable chainrings, making it compatible with most drivetrains and frames.
Available from the 15th of April, the Carbon crankset comes in 155, 165, and 170 mm lengths, and is priced at $695 / £550 / €690.
Hope TR stem
The new TR stem is designed as a replacement for the AM stem, and the all-new TR stem matches the aesthetic of its Gravity stem but is aimed at downcountry/trail and all-mountain mountain bike use. Hope claims the new stem is lighter and stiffer compared to the outgoing model, and varies from 121g to 131g depending on the length and clamp option selected, in comparison to the AM stem that came in at around 134g.
The TR stem also sees a new 40mm length introduced which it says will help riders achieve the perfect setup, and joins the 32, 35, and 50mm options.
Elsewhere the CNC-machined 2014 T6 aluminum stem features opposing steerer clamp bolts to give what they say is exceptionally rigid steering characteristics, and there is a 2-piece front plate design with a simple “no gap” clamping system.
The TR stem is available from the 1st of March and comes in either Black, Silver, Red, Blue, Purple, Orange, or new Bronze. Length choices are 32, 40, and 50mm lengths in a 31.8 clamp and 35, 40 and 50mm lengths in the 35 clamp. Priced at $135 / £105 / €135.
New Bronze color
You eagle-eyed Hope super fans may have already spotted it on the above stem, but Hope Tech are adding a new bronze colorway. Hope are known for its range of anodized colors and the new bronze option will feature across Hope's alloy product range.
Hope PF41 30mm BB
The PF41 30mm BB is a new custom-designed Press Fit bottom bracket for 41mm diameter bottom bracket shells and 30mm cranks. It features Swiss-manufactured stainless steel bearings that has now allowed Hope to offer a full bottom bracket assembly with a sealed internal center tube and external bearing shields.
Hope claims that the new bearings are also more tolerant to misalignment to account for manufacturing tolerances in MTB frame bottom bracket shells.Createing what Hope say is a more durable and longer-lasting bottom bracket when compared to previous models that didn't include the internal and external sealing and therefore reduced the lifespan.
