'Hope is everything' After Life benches donated by Ricky Gervais installed in Cardiff parks

Benches donated by After Life creator Ricky Gervais where people can go to talk, listen and reflect have been installed in two Cardiff parks.

Two of the capital's parks had benches installed on Wednesday, January 19, that were donated by the Netflix star and a mental health campaign group.

The benches are now in place at Victoria Park in Canton and Parc Cefn Onn in Lisvane.

The comedian and suicide prevention charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) have donated 25 benches around the UK in a bid for them to be a chance for people to confide in others about their mental health and 'show its normal to have those feelings.'

The benches have a distinguishable plaque that reads "hope is everything" and feature QR codes leading to online resources and a message of support.

Victoria Park was the first to get its bench installed this morning which is located near the park's tennis courts, just northwest of the bandstand.

Since the first series launched on Netflix, After Life has held a special place in many people's hearts - covering issues such as grief, loss, depression and recovery while managing to somehow offer moments of great humour at the same time.

Anne is the one person Tony can let his guard down with, can open up to and be himself.
