In a 2016 statement to the Wall Street Journal, former White House communications director Hope Hicks adamantly denied allegations of a relationship between then-President Donald Trump and adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Hicks stated that it was 'absolutely, unequivocally' untrue that Trump had any involvement with Daniels.

During questioning in court, Hicks confirmed that Trump instructed her to make the denial. When asked if Trump specifically told her to say that, Hicks responded with a simple 'Yes.'
