Hope has been expressed for 'something different' or a chain restaurant to replace a closed Nottingham bank. The former Lloyds Bank branch in Gregory Boulevard, Hyson Green, has been listed for long-term lease after it was closed in September 2022.
This decision was met with disappointment by residents, who have now given their verdict on what should replace the empty unit. Patrick Massam, 26, assistant manager of Staddons Nottingham Bed Centre, which neighbours the shut bank, said: "I would love for the closed Greggs to come back, but I doubt that would happen.
"It would be good to get something different or another café. People used to loiter outside of the bank but on the flip side we do not have people coming to this area now, so any new business there would be useful."

Stanley Kambwali, 53, from Hyson Green, said: "The bank closure was a shame, people have to go further into town now. We don't need another market or shop because we have a lot of those.
"Maybe we could get a new Nando's or KFC as we don't have many chains around here. It is unusual because we don't have a McDonalds or anything in this area."
The building's ground floor comprises of a main banking hall with cashier desk, storage facilities, meeting rooms and another room to the rear. The first floor provides toilets, staff accommodation and storage facilities.
Al Morsi, 57, from Hyson Green, added: "It has not been empty too long, hopefully a new business will set up there. There are a lot of shops here, so maybe a restaurant would be good."
The building's long leasehold is up for sale for £40,000, with the leasehold expiring on December 24, 2070. The passing rent is listed as being £11,000.
CBRE, the commercial real estate company marketing the property, said: "The subject property is located in the centre of Hyson Green's busy retail area along Gregory Boulevard and Radford Road. National retailers in the vicinity include Asda and Betfred."
