Conservatives will be offered free condoms branded with political-themed slogans at this year's party conference. The condoms and dental dams will feature lines such as "strong and stable" and "honourable member".
The contraceptives will be handed out by the LGBT+ Conservatives group. The organisation has ordered 500 items to hand out at the four-day event in Birmingham.
Speaking to the BBC, the group's chair Elena Rose Bunbury said: "We all know people like a good time at conferences, and we're here to help ensure that happens safely. We don't know if that's enough but, all our money is fundraised and we have to justify where our money is being spent."
Other slogans set to appear on the condoms include "Unleash Britain's Potential" and "Labour isn't working, but this condom will (*99% of the time)". A number of Tory members including two MPs have personal slogans. They include:
- Gary Sambrook: Strap it for Sambrook
- Peter Gibson: Glove it for Gibbo
- Andrew Boff: Boff - Safely
- Emma Best: Bang for Best
- Nick Rogers: Roger for Nick
In 2018, UKIP sold promotional condoms to raise money at their conference in Birmingham. The contraceptives had a picture of Nigel Farage on the packaging and included the line "For when you have a hard Brexit". It is thought this is the first time condoms will be handed out at the Conservative party conference.
