Honda, Sony And Chinese EVs: The Big News From CES 2025

The future of technology and the future of cars are increasingly one in the same. And there's no better place to bear witness to that than CES, the gigantic tech expo that happens every year in Las Vegas.

For proof, look no further than the Afeela 1, an electric car jointly developed by Sony and Honda that broke cover at the show this week. The sedan features dazzling touchscreens, a vast Sony content library, video games, an external display and a whopping 40 sensors for automated driving. It arrives in 2026 with a price tag north of $100,000.

But is that actually what people want? Will Americans cough up Mercedes S-Class money for a car they can stream Morbius and play Fortnite in? My co-host Patrick George and I discuss that and more on this week's episode of the InsideEVs Plugged-In Podcast.

Patrick was actually at CES this week and got to see all of the show's buzziest EVs with his own eyes. We chat about Honda's 0-Series prototypes and what he thought of the various impressive Chinese cars on display from Zeekr and Great Wall Motor. And we discuss plans to purchase XPeng's six-wheeled bus with a folding electric helicopter.

Plus, we break down U.S. EV sales in 2024 and explain Tesla's year of shrinking deliveries
