Honda might include PS5 consoles in electric cars

Sony might be bringing the PS5 to an all-new line of electric cars from Honda.

During an interview with Financial Times, Sony Honda Mobility president and COO Izumi Kawanishi spoke on the possibility of incorporating PS5 consoles into future electric vehicles (thanks, IGN).

“Sony has content, services and entertainment technologies that move people. We are adapting these assets to mobility, and this is our strength against Tesla,” Kawanishi said.

He then explained that “Tesla [isn’t] providing any content services” and that certain cars “will cater to the entertainment and network we would like to offer.”

Sony and Honda’s partnership came together earlier this year with plans to ship its first electric vehicle by sometime in 2025. Both companies would like to implement self-driving as a feature as well.

“To enjoy the space in your car, you have to make it a space where you don’t need to drive,” Kawanishi explained. “The solution for this is autonomous driving.”

Kawanishi didn’t elaborate on how a console might fit within one of these cars, but an early concept, so everything is still flexible. The PS5 recently had a price hike in many regions, along with new models that are slightly lighter than the launch variants.
