People were evacuated after a fire broke out in the roof of a flat.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue were called to Village Mews in Wallasey Village today at 8.02am and were on scene at 8.07am. Four fire engines attended the scene, as well as a police van, ambulance and a number of unmarked cars.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a fire in the roof space of a third floor flat. When the ECHO was the scene, a number of people had been evacuated from the surrounding flats.

One woman who lived nearby told the ECHO: "When I opened my window this morning, all I could smell was smoke." She added their was a large emergency service presence.
A full search of the building was carried out and everyone was accounted for. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and used high pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
At around 11am, only one fire engine remained at the scene. A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said an investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out in due course.
A full statement from the fire service said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service is currently in attendance at Village Mews, Wallasey Village. Crews were alerted at 8.02am and on scene at 8.07am. Four fire engines were sent to the scene.
"On arrival crews found a fire in the roof space of a third floor flat. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and used high pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
"A full search of the premises has been carried out and all persons have been accounted for. All firefighting operations have now ceased at this incident.
"One fire engine remains in attendance. An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out in due course."
