Homeowner threatened with knife but chases burglar away during terrifying Meath robbery

Gardai have launched an investigation after a man was threatened with a knife during a terrifying home burglary in Navan, Co Meath.

The man entered his kitchen to find a male intruder going through his kitchen drawers in the Fitzherbert Court area at approximately 3.20pm on Thursday, January 13.

The trespasser grabbed a knife from a drawer and proceeded to threaten the homeowner.

The burglar dropped the knife and fled the house over the garden wall after the man shouted and raised the alarm.

The culprit is described as being approximately 19 years of age, clean-shaven, of slim build, with an Irish accent.

He was wearing a hood, a black tracksuit and dark trainers.

A garda spokesperson said: "Anybody who was in this area during this time and who noticed any suspicious person or activity is asked to please contact Navan Garda Station on 046 9036100 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111."
