Homeless man, 40, found dead behind car wash

A homeless man was found dead in a vehicle behind a car wash in east Manchester this morning.

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were scrambled to the scene on Hyde Road at around 8.15am. The man's body was found in a vehicle near the Hand Car Wash & Valeting Centre at the junction with Bennet Street.

Police said he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He is believed to be 40-years-old and officers will now work to track down his next of kin.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. This morning, the car wash was cordoned off by police officers.

Both the exit and entrance remain taped off, with officers stationed at the scene. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At 08.16am this morning, Monday November 2022, police were called to reports of a body of a homeless man in a vehicle at the back of a car wash on Hyde Road.

"Colleagues from NWAS attended and sadly pronounced the man dead at the scene. Officers believe that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the 40-year-old and are now tracing his next of kin."
