Home with tiny 'wooden cell' garden leaves claustrophobic house hunters in stitches

A property listing has been ridiculed online after house hunters spotted that the 'private compact courtyard' out the back isn't much bigger than a 'wooden cell' or 'shower cubicle'.

The one-bedroom house on Pinner Road in Hunter's Bar, Sheffield, has been advertised on Rightmove for £185,000.

Whitehornes Estate agents have described the property as "super quirky" and claim it's likely to be "incredibly popular" with professional couples.

However, the listing has proved popular online for other reasons.

The outdoor area, which is a small, decked area, has been commented on by social media users who found the space to be rather "claustrophobic".

One person commented on Twitter : "It’s actually pretty nice inside, a bit weird and a funny shape, but quite nice.

"For 'compact courtyard garden' read 'wood-panelled shower cubicle with no views and no actual shower'."

Another person wrote: "‘Fresh air cell’ seems a good fit. Rolling on the floor laughing."

A third posted: "Somewhere to relax after work" alongside a picture of Edvard Munch's The Scream.

While someone else proclaimed: "I love how it talks about the area being great for children, with play-parks, nurseries, schools etc.

"Sorry, where the f**k am I storing the child in this property? The open-air, timber decking clad, child containment cell?"

And a different user added: "That is triggering my claustrophobia just thinking about it."

However, not everyone disliked the space as some saw the appeal - claiming it would make a great low-maintenance outdoor space.

A seventh person pointed out: "Low maintenance, into it."

The description on Rightmove reads: "An incredibly rare opportunity has arisen to purchase this super quirky and individually designed one double bedroomed, bay windowed terraced property.

"With accommodation spanning over three floors that offer a light, spacious and contemporary feel, number 30 will be incredibly popular with the professional couple, first-time buyer and those looking to invest in equal measures.

"With private compact courtyard garden, it's easy to say that viewing is absolutely essential to do full justice to this property. Perfectly placed on this well sought after residential road within a short stroll oh Sharrow Vale with its array of independent cafes, eateries, shops, Dyson place, Endcliffe park is also on hand as is central Sheffield, universities, hospitals and of course The Peak District is right next door."

Whitehornes Estate Agents and Rightmove have been contacted for comment.
