Hugh Wallace and husband Martin Corbett met in Dublin gay bar The George nearly 40 years ago.
The Home of the Year adjudicator and celeb architect said his husband is his "most prized possession."
The couple, who wed 11 years ago, have ways to keep their marriage exciting and they never go to bed in the aftermath of a row or arguement.

Hugh told RSVP Magazine: "Martin picked me up wearing black woollen trousers with a green fleck on the staircase in The George 36 years ago.
"When we met it was a very slow burn and I think our relationship benefitted from that."
At the time, being gay was not legal in the country. Hugh said the pair knew each other were gay and didn't hide it, adding that Ireland has moved on a lot in the last four decades.
Hugh said: "It is mind-blowing and we’ve seen extraordinary changes socially and with the things we talk about.
"Nobody would have talked about abortion, mental health and alcohol in the past.
He stressed that it is exciting the type of things that can be discussed nowadays.
The architect hinted at one particular thing that helps keep the marriage exciting.
He said: "We respect one another. We also always have a cuddle together even if we have had a row before we go to bed.
"It is very important. Imagine waking up and something has happened and your last memory is of a row. Wouldn’t that be dreadful?"
The TV presenter said he is intrigued by his partner's knowledge and he also buys little gifts for him.
"I forgot our wedding anniversary recently so I got a card and put €50 in it and he did the exact same thing."
He even admitted that he drives his husband a bit mad at home.
He said: "I am not quite sure where to start [laughs]! I drive him crazy because I am dogmatic and he will close up and we will have a tiff.
"I also lie when I feed him food. He’s very weird with food. A day later I will tell him that his beef was actually lamb."
Hugh said they are lucky to have lots of friends too, that they can go out to dinner with.
"That is very important in a relationship because too many couples live in one another’s ear. They wonder why they don’t get on together but it is because they are bored. With Martin, a day is not boring with him," he added.
