Home Bargains shoppers running to order heated airer that costs 7p to run

Heated airers, like air fryers, have been selling out left, right and centre as many Brits continue to look for ways to save money on their energy bills by ditching the oven, tumble dryer and quite often, their central heating, too.

Aldi’s winged heated airer sold out before the tills could even open , while other popular brands like Dunelm, Lidl and Argos are out of stock, too.

The ‘gold dust gadgets’ are being snapped up in order to dry clothes faster than a regular airer, without the need for the tumble dryer - but you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on one.

The average tumble dryer costs around 85p per hour to run, based on figures from Citizen’s advice, so using a heater airer can save a whopping 92 per cent.

Home Bargains are currently one of the few retailers with physical stock, after spotting the energy-saving device in the aisle of my local store. The HomeApp Store heated clothes airer comes in at £44.99, making it £5 more expensive than Aldi’s - but the same price as Lidl’s.

Coming in at just 220 watts, the eco-friendly and cost-effective heated clothes airer costs around 7p an hour to run, and doubles up as a room heater, so you won’t need the heating on, either.

Home Bargains said: “Whether you want to warm up your towels on a cold day, dry some jumpers or delicate items or air some damp clothes, this airer is ideal for your drying needs. The airer is just about essential for anybody desperate for extra drying space, who finds themselves trying to hang their clothes off radiators or door handles.”

The airer offers 18 heated bars for 90cm by 53cm of drying space - plus the free standing airer folds flat for easy storage so it is perfect for when space is at a premium.

The retailer added: “Your energy consumption will be minuscule in comparison to drying your clothes in a tumble dryer and the drying process is kinder on your clothes, so your bank account, your clothes and the environment will thank you!”

Shoppers can order the Home Bargains heated airer online here - or head to their nearest store to see if it’s in stock
