Home Bargains shoppers praise 'unusual' £9 light-up clock but others aren't convinced

One Home Bargains shopper was left "very very impressed" by a light-up clock sold by the budget retailer, and was quick to share details the product online.

The bargain giant sells a Light-Up Electronic Word Clock that illuminates words displaying the time rather than traditional numbers.

The "stylish and functional" clock displays the time in increments of five minutes, as opposed to showing the exact time.

The product description on the Home Bargains website states: "A new way of telling time! This LED clock displays time in words. Impress your friends with this unique, fun timepiece."

Taking to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, the customer said: "Someone posted this word clock from Home Bargains for £8.99 a couple of weeks ago and I just had to buy it, just thought I would show you what it looks like, very very impressed!"

Before long, the post had received significant attention — amassing more than 2,200 likes and over 620 comments.

One group member wrote: "Ooh love it, could have it next to a standard clock in kids bedroom to help them tell the time".

"I really want one of these," said a second.

"This is amazing I love it," a third shared.

One satisfied customer revealed: "I got one yesterday. I love it".

"How unusual," another praised.

A sixth posted: "This is amazing I love it".

However, not everyone was a fan of the unorthodox clock — with many customers who previously purchased it criticising its battery life.

One commented: "It's very stylish but I would find it would take me longer to work out what it says than just looking at my phone".

"I have this and I love it, only annoying thing is that when you switch it off you have to reprogram it again every time and it eats batteries," shared a second.

A third vented: "Awful thing, doesn't hold battery life snd when I plugged in a found adapter only some of the letters showed up".

A fourth agreed: "It’s a battery eater! They run out so fast. I want a cable for it but they don’t sell them in home bargains"

Another stated: "Annoying to read lol. Looks tacky as well".
