Home Bargains shoppers 'obsessed' with £4 dog coat that looks just like £40 Barbour version

Home Bargains shoppers have been fawning over a cosy coat for their dogs that bears a striking resemblance to a designer version 10 times the price.

The budget retailer is selling a quilted dog coat, perfect for keeping your pooch toasty in the chilly March weather. The coat comes in five different sizes ranging from extra-small to extra-large to suit four-legged friends of all shapes and sizes.

The coat can be bought from Home Bargains for just £3.99 in sizes extra-small, small or medium, or £5.99 for the large and extra-large sizes. It makes a convincing dupe for a similar item from high-end brand Barbour, with a Quilted Dog Coat also available on the luxury retailer's website - but the Home Bargains version comes at a fraction of the cost, as the Barbour coat will set owners back £39.95.

The retailer caught the eye of shoppers after sharing a picture on Instagram of a super-cute pup modelling the coat. Dachshund Annie looked snug in the black quilted garment, which also comes with a white fleece collar and trim.

"Aww, so cute!" one person commented on the snap, while another hailed it as "adorable" and a third declared: "I'm obsessed."

The black version of the quilted coat bought can be bought on the Home Bargains website here, and it's also available in khaki green here. Alternatively, you can shop the Barbour version here.

It isn't just dog owners that Home Bargains have been impressing lately with their budget dupes. Shoppers recently spotted a £4.99 glass vase in stores and said they "couldn't believe" the price, comparing it to a £24.99 version from H&M.

And over in the beauty section, the retailer has been praised for its selection of designer perfume dupes that are almost £100 cheaper than the real thing. Shoppers hailed the fragrances, which imitate the likes of Chanel, YSL, Giorgio Armani, Marc Jacobs and Jo Malone, as smelling "just like the originals" despite being priced between just 99p and £3.99 each.
