Discount store Home Bargains has been praised after announcing it will be closing all of its branches for three days over the Christmas period.
The retailer will be closing all of its stores on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day to allow staff to enjoy the festivities with their loved ones. The store will also be closing at the earlier time of 5pm on Christmas Eve.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Home Bargains said: "All of our stores will be closing for Boxing Day and New Year's Day. We would like to thank all our staff for how hard you have worked this past year, and want you to relax and enjoy the Christmas break with your loved ones"

Many shoppers took to the comments to praise Home Bargains for this decision. One person wrote: "Well done, hope other shops do as well!"
Someone else commented: "This is so refreshing to hear. What a fabulous example to set in the retail industry." Another shopper said: "Good it's about time retail workers enjoyed the holidays with their families."
Another person wrote: "Well done Home Bargains, thinking of your staff that have families too and want to spend time with them at a special time of year. All shops should follow suit. People buy enough food to last a month! With fridges and freezers bursting. This will be my 34th Christmas in retail, it ruins your Christmas Day knowing you are back to work Boxing Day."
