Home Bargains' cheap £3.25 Christmas dinner has seriously upset shoppers

Christmas dinner is undoubtedly the best meal of the year for many Brits, but with the cost of living crisis looming like a dark cloud over December, many people are cutting back on their food shops and scaling back their festive purchases.

For those who won’t be cooking for a full family this year, Home Bargains shoppers have spotted a ‘bargain’ Christmas dinner that costs less than a fiver - and while some people were impressed by the TV dinner tray, others said it was ‘sad’.

The discount retailer is dishing up a turkey and ham roast dinner with ‘all the trimmings’, priced at just £3.25.

The foil tray is said to contain slices of turkey and ham, roast and creamy mash potatoes, sweet peas, carrots and sage & onion stuffing with a rich red wine gravy. The oven-ready meal was shared on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group by customer Anola Browne, highlighting the affordable price.

“I think it's sad to see these ....I'm very lucky indeed,” fellow shopper Sharon Wallhead commented.

And many people agreed with her, with Jean Davey Richards responding: “So do I, very sad. I would take anybody in on Christmas to save them being alone but for each person alone there are thousands of others aren't there? If only we could all do more.”

However, others thought they were a great idea for those spending Christmas alone, or for older people who would struggle to make a festive feast. Equally, anyone struggling for cash might also appreciate the budget lunch.

Kayleigh Miller commented: “Probably good for older people who can't manage to cook though,” while Emma Michelle Shields added: “It’d do for maybe someone on their own or who can’t afford to get a full blown Christmas dinner.”

But some were pretty keen on the idea of a ready-to-cook Christmas dinner - with some even having already tried it for themselves. Beverley Thomas said: “These are brill so tasty fab pop in freezer case I can't get up to cook for my dad.”

Paul Kinder added: “I thought it was really good impressed me and I'm fussy.”

Would you try a £3.25 Christmas dinner from Home Bargains to save a bit of cash this Christmas?
