Home Bargains has announced that all branches across the UK will remain closed during the festive period to allow staff members to spend time with loved ones.
The popular budget high-street chain has confirmed it will be shutting up shop on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day this year. Many retailers and supermarkets across the country tend to remain open during the Christmas period to allow households to stock up with essentials during the holidays.
However, the discounted chain has confirmed this will not be the case for Home Bargains, which currently operates around 539 stores across the country.
The value retailer, which usually remains open until 8pm during the week, will also be closing at the earlier time of 5pm on Christmas Eve. So, last minute shoppers this year might want to make sure they have everything they need.
Home Bargains has said it has changed opening hours this Christmas season to allow staff members the time enjoy the festivities with family and friends.
A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “We know how hard all our colleagues have worked throughout the year. Being a family-run business, we recognise the importance of spending quality time with our loved ones.
"Therefore, we feel it is only right to support our valued store teams by giving them extended time off around Christmas and New Year.”
This isn't the first time that the budget-friendly retailer has closed its doors during the festive period, as it previously shut on Boxing Day in 2021, 2020 and 2019.
A number of retailers and supermarkets have been closing their doors earlier during the Christmas season to allow staff a well deserved break after a difficult few years during the pandemic.
