American actor Will Ferrell fired Sunderland a tongue in cheek warning before their clash with QPR on Tuesday night. Tony Mowbray's side were in the capital to take on Neil Critchley's men knowing a win would keep their play-off aspirations alive.
Speaking to QPR's official twitter account before kick off, Ferrell said: "Sunderland, ah the tears of sorrow you're going to experience tonight. Dripping down your face into your mouth.
"Drowning you in sorrow. I can only imagine."
Ferrell has been at a number of games across the UK over the past week or so. The American was at Wrexham and had a pre-match pint with fans before taking in their game against Wealdstone.
One Wrexham fan told the BBC: "Basically me and two mates have just been in The Turf having a pint as usual, and then some phones and chanting went up. We went to leave The Turf, and then another Wrexham fan said 'Come have a look, it's Will Ferrell'.
"We laughed and didn't believe it, walked over and it was the man himself. He was just having a pint before the game."
The was at the Merseyside Derby after also watching Manchester City. The LAFC co-owner joked about taking over at the Etihad, he said: "I'm now your manager, things are going to go downhill from here." A member of staff then asked how City would improve under him, Ferrell scoffed: "I'll take you backwards."
Ferrell's message would ultimately backfire, with the Black Cats winning three nil and posting a tongue-in-cheek response on Twitter with an image of the star watching on with his head in his hands.
