A Hollywood hair stylist with not a single fuck left to give has popped off about the worst celebs he’s ever worked with. We can only assume he’s decided to leave LA for a simpler, less celebrity-filled life because torching your former clients doesn’t feel like a great way to land new ones. But what do we know? Maybe burning bridges is all the rage in Tinsel town.
Hair stylist Emanuel Miller has named Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively and Jennifer Lopez as among the worst celebs he’s ever worked with, making wild claims of diva behaviour on the What It Was Like podcast. Clips have since gone viral on TikTok, and everyone’s weighing in on whether or not Miller’s comments stand up.
Take a huge line (uh, grain) of salt and buckle up. Let’s dive in.
Who were the worst celebrities to deal with?
Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway might be both the people’s princess and Genovia’s queen, but according to Emanuel, she wasn’t particularly chatty.
“I did a film with Anne Hathaway, and that was one of my worst experiences. Anne never acknowledged me as a person for four and a half months. She treated me like a servant.”
Apparently, Anne never asked him about his family or personal life, which clearly rubbed him the wrong way.
“There was never any personal conversation,” he said.
One user came to Anne’s defence and commented, “It’s interesting that people think they are entitled to personal conversations… I never expect this from anyone.”
However, another user pointed out, “Guys, not wanting to make small talk with your hairdresser one time at a hair salon is much different than having your hair done by the SAME person for 4 months straight with no interaction at all.”
It’s not the first time Anne has been called out for awkward chat — journalist Kjersti Flaa went viral on TikTok for her brutal interview the Devil Wears Prada star that had everyone in the comments cringing. Anne quickly apologised after learning about the videos and Kjersti graciously accepted her sorry.
“She sent me a long email explaining to me what she was going through right then, when she did this interview, and she apologised for giving me an awful interview. It was so touching to me,” Kjersti said in a TikTok.
Blake Lively
Unfortunately, Emanuel didn’t have a great experience with Gossip Girl star Blake Lively either. In fact, he decided that it was a write-off straight away.
“When I first met Blake, I thought, ‘Oh no, is this another Anne situation?’ She was so dismissive from the get-go,” Emanuel revealed.
Emanuel worked with Blake on the film Hick in 2011. During this time it seemed that the actress invited her hairstylist and other people on the cast and crew over for dinner, but Emanuel was not impressed.
“There was no food ready. Blake had been making pastries all night and cream puff towers and cakes. The other guests stayed, but I finally left around 8 o’clock, and the food still hadn’t been served.”
The host of the podcast tried to come to Blake’s defence offering up hosting nerves and anxiety as an excuse, but Emanuel was not having it.
“Even her mother and brother seemed to be afraid of her. You don’t tell Blake, ‘We have all these people here, you need to feed them’.”
Emanuel also claimed that a make-up artist named Vivian who worked on the movie was called to help clean the kitchen after Blake’s dinner.
“Vivian and her sister, who was visiting, were called over at 1 am from our house to come over and help clean.”
This revelation comes off the back of mass rumours of Blake’s bad behaviour on the set of It Ends With Us. The caption for the clip of Emanuel said, “The controversy surrounding Blake Lively doesn’t surprise him.”
Some commenters are concerned that Emanuel is using his platform simply to pile onto Blake and may be reading into the interaction.
“I think Hollywood wants to cancel Blake Lively,” said a TikTok user.
“So sick of the whole ‘pile on Blake Lively’,” another said.
Some users also pointed out that she would have been 23 at the time of filming and “may not have hosted a dinner party before”.
Jennifer Lopez
In another clip, Emanuel spoke about the time he had a run in with Jennifer Lopez. The way this man is so casual about his celebrity interactions is wild.
Emanuel who had finished up with a different client for a talk show appearance was told to “clear the room” as the pop star herself was about to arrive.
“Suddenly, there was an instant panic. I’ve been to a lot of talk shows in the greenroom with a lot of actors and I never had that experience.”
He explained that eventually they cleared out and headed for the elevators when he realised that he forgot his overcoat and had to rush back to the greenroom. This is where he supposedly ran into Jennifer.
He said to her, “Hello Jennifer, we worked together on Monster In Law.”
Apparently, Jennifer looked at him and then towards her security guard with a look that according to Emanuel said, “you were told to get this trash and clear the room. Why isn’t this room cleared?”
Obviously no one wants to feel like they aren’t supposed to be there, but I too would be a little off if a random man popped up out of nowhere.
“She didn’t want to talk to anybody. Maybe she just wants to chill and relax that’s not a bad thing,” said one commenter.
Don’t worry, there were some good celebs
It’s not all doom and gloom in the land of celebrity hair, though. Emanuel had some kind words for a few stars who apparently aren’t on his shit list.
“Cate Blanchett, we knew each other’s family; she knew my children. Johnny Depp was that way, Tom Hanks too.”
So there you have it — Emanuel is clearly over the celebrity scene and ready to hang up his scissors for good. The next time you’re feeling like a diva at the salon, just remember: your stylist might be one bad day away from sharing your secrets on a viral podcast!
