Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy thanks Glasgow Royal Infirmary staff after Boxing Day crash

Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy has thanked Glasgow Royal Infirmary for taking care of him after his Boxing Day car crash.

The actor spent Christmas in Scotland with new girlfriend, Scots Love Island star Laura Anderson, before crashing his vehicle on Monday December 26 and ending up in hospital. The couple, who met on the most recent season of E4's Celebs Go Dating, shared the news on social media after Gary, 41, was discharged from hospital in crutches and a knee brace.

After the father-of-four was resting up, 33-year-old Laura shared a collage of their day to fans - including loved up Christmas snaps, as well as Gary lying in a hospital bed and a photo of his extremely swollen knee. Re-sharing the image on Instagram, Gary wrote: "Huge thank you to all at Glasgow Royal Infirmary Hospital."

He added: "And to one special nurse in particular... @lauraanderson1x," alongside three red heart emojis.

Sharing images of his badly damaged car following the accident, Gary noted he was lucky to be alive. He wrote: "Someone was looking out for me today."

The father-of-four shared another photo of the front of the smashed car, adding: "Gary 9 lives."

Sharing a video from the hospital, Laura said: "Happy Boxing Day. We've had a lovely time," before the two burst out laughing at their situation.

The 33-year-old also asked Gary: "How are you feeling on your morphine?"

Standing in his crutches, Gary said: "Yeah pretty f***ing good to be fair," before Laura starts giggling.

She continues: "Sorry, this isn't funny. Love you," before going into kiss the actor.

Taking to social media today, Laura credited St Joseph for saving the soap star after he was rushed to hospital from miraculously surviving a crash which wrecked his Range Rover.

She took to her Instagram to share a snap of the saint card which Gary had been given by his gran.

Alongside the picture, she wrote: “We’re not religious but thank you St Joseph for saving my love.

“Gary’s gran gave him this, it had words about safety and protection on the other side. I pulled it out of his bag yesterday morning just before his accident.”

She went on to ask her followers: “Do you keep anything sentimental with you for protection?”
