Hollyoaks' Jamie Lomas forced to shut acting school due to racking up huge debts

Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas has had shut down two of his companies, with debts of £92,000.

Two out of three of the soap actor's businesses went bust last month, documents published this month show.

Jamie Lomas Associates was founded in 2016, for "motion picture, television and other theatrical casting activities".

The actor's other firm, First Take School of Acting, was created in the summer of 2018. On website Companies House, its nature of business is described as "media representation services".

The Sun reports that First Take owes £73,449, while Jamie Lomas Associates owes £18, 945.

Neither firm has any assets which can be used to help pay off their debts, it was also reported.

The blow follows an extremely difficult time for the entertainment industry, with Covid-19 restrictions forcing productions to be cancelled, theatres to close and actors to see work outside of the sector.

Both Jamie Lomas Associates and First Take School of Acting owe money to HMRC in PAYE employment taxes as well as monies to NatWest Bank.

Companies House shows that Jamie Lomas Association owes £1,147 to HMRC and £14,986 to NatWest, while First Take owes £35,319 to HMRC and £38,128 to Nat West.

As well as these debts, staff at Jamie Lomas are owed £2,810 under ‘employee notice’.

The liquidations come after claims for government support in 2020 and 2021, to help deal with the impact of the pandemic.

Both firms claimed staff costs through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme – known as furlough.
