Holly Willoughby 'wants to burst into tears' on This Morning, say fans

This Morning viewers say Holly Willoughby looked like she wanted "to burst into tears" during today's episode amid the ongoing 'queue-jumping' row.

The 41-year-old and her co-host Phillip Schofield were falsely accused of skipping the queue to witness the Queen's lying-in-state last week. Many were furious with the pair and demanded they be axed from the ITV show.

Holly and Phil, 60, were in fact at Westminster Hall for work and filmed a special segment for This Morning.

The presenters made their last appearance of the week in today's episode, with some people suggesting they looked like they would rather be elsewhere.

"Holly looks like she wants to burst into tears," one viewer Tweeted.

Another said: "Holly doesn't seem her happy bubbly self today. She seems really awkward and on edge."

A third fan wrote: "You can see that the two are just hanging on to a thread here," while someone else added: "Definitely no energy and don’t won’t to be there."

Holly is thought to have been left "distraught" by the severe criticism she and Phillip have faced online, but remains confident in her ITV team.

Dismissing recent claims Holly would quit her job over the matter, a TV source said: "The abuse has been nothing short of disgusting.

"There is huge, real and serious concerns over their wellbeing and ITV are fully supporting them behind the scenes in the face of such relentless trolling," they told The Sun.

On Tuesday, Holly and Phil addressed the false accusations and said they would "never jump a queue".

During a special episode reflecting on the days since the Queen's death, Holly said in a voiceover: "Like hundreds of accredited broadcasters and journalists we were given official permission to access the hall.

"It was strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK who have not been able to visit Westminster in person.

"The rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back. In contrast, those paying respect walked along a carpeted area beside the coffin and were given time to pause.

"None of the broadcasters and journalists there took anyone’s place in the queue and no one filed past the Queen. We of course respected those rules.

"However, we realise that it may have looked like something else, and therefore totally understand the reaction. Please know that we would never jump a queue."
