Holly Willoughby to miss This Morning after being struck by painful illness

This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby won't be on This Morning for a "few days" as she recovers from a case of shingles. The ITV talk show host has been away for two weeks during the Easter holidays.

Phillip Schofield who has had an extended break during his brother's court case is expected to return on Monday, April 17. In an Instagram post, Holly said: "Hi. Just to let you know I may be away for the rest of the week as I have shingles. I'll be back as soon as I'm better. Huge love, Holly."

The NHS website says that shingles is an infection that causes a painful rash and is caused by the same virus as chickenpox. The first signs of shingles can be a tingling or painful feeling in an area of skin, or a headache or feeling generally unwell. A rash will appear a few days later.

It can take up to four weeks for the rash to heal. The website says: "Your skin can be painful for weeks after the rash has gone, but it usually gets better over time."

When Holly and Phil, who also present ITV's Dancing On Ice together, are not hosting their ITV talk show, TV personality Alison Hammond and former The X Factor presenter Dermot O'Leary usually step in. On Monday, This Morning said The Hit List presenter and former The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes will be in the studio alongside Phil to host: "Tomorrow at 10am on ITV1 and STV, it's welcome back after the Easter holidays to Phillip and get better soon to Holly who's off ill for a few days. Phillip and Rochelle have a packed show, and a very special live announcement from Alison Hammond around midday."
