Holly Willoughby is working with husband Dan on a new TV series after they were both inspired by their new healthy living ethos.
The This Morning presenter teamed up with her TV producer hubby for the upcoming BBC show Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof, and said she was inspired by Wim’s cold water therapy ideology.
Holly, 41, told Closer magazine she pitched the idea to Dan after reading about Wim and his hugely successful deep breathing remedies, because she was “always looking for things to make life a little bit easier or better”.
She told her husband of 15 years about Wim because she was “amazed” by his technique, and said they “both really love Wim’s ideas”.
“I told Dan about him, but not for a show idea, just kind of that he’s amazing, and we should do the breathing thing,” Holly explained, adding that Dan “created the most incredible show around it”.
Wim’s ideology, called the Wim Hof Method, introduces people to deep breathing techniques, and freezing cold temperatures, to unlock a “multitude of benefits”, including less stress, better sleep, and a stronger immune system.
Holly said she was entranced by the Dutch motivational speaker’s ethos, and said it was the simplicity of it that intrigued her, and made her want to try it out for herself.
“If I’m going to explore something, it has to be quite simple that fits in my life. I think that’s the key to success, if it’s something that is simple, it can become part of your life,” she shared.
Former footballer Patrice Evra, TV’s Gabby Logan, opera singer Alfie Boe, actress Tamzin Outhwaite, weatherman Owain Wyn Evans, Strictly’s Dianne Buswell, rapper Professor Green and singing footballer Chelcee Grimes are the celebrities taking part in the show.
And Holly admitted she was “jealous” seeing their transformation as they learn Wim’s techniques over a series of challenges.
“You could see the change, you could see what they were coming away with, and it was infectious,” she said, as she revealed her mindset had been changed simply by being around it.
Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof starts next Tuesday (April 12) on BBC One at 9pm
