Holly Willoughby and This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield grilled viewers on Monday, about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022 ceremony on Sunday, while Holly herself was quick to slam both US stars for what happened.
The controversial moment went viral, despite some suspicions it might have been staged, following a joke made about Will's wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
While Will seemed to initially laugh at Chris' GI Jane comment, while Jada watched on furiously, he soon raced up onto the stage and slapped Chris.
Many across the world have been divided over actor Will, who went on to win an Oscar that very evening, using violence - while Chris' joke has also been slammed.
The comment appeared to reference Jada's shaved head, with the actress recently opening up on her alopecia battle - while Will was heard shouting out: "K eep my wife's name out your f***ing mouth."
On Monday, the moment was understandably all the TV shows were talking about including Holly and Phil on This Morning.
Speaking towards the start of the show, Holly slammed both Will and Chris over the joke and the reaction to the comment.
Holly said: "There is no excuse for any violence, and it was an assault on somebody. Whether or not people were saying, 'It was just a joke'.
"It was a joke about somebody that’s got a condition, which is obviously for her, you can see her reaction straight away.
"She doesn’t want that being brought up in an auditorium, it’s not funny, it something that she is living with."
After initially saying there was "no excuse" for the violence earlier in the show, Holly and Phil later spoke to viewers and asked for their thoughts.
It seemed quite divided, as one viewer backed Will's response after her own experiences with a health battle, while others said he should have his award taken from him.
Phil added it seemed he was being "reprimanded" by the entire world, before Holly shared her thought that Will was "trying to change the narrative" in the fallout, by making a joke of it.
The viewer had said: "Will is still on such a high level, he’s resorted to violence and I think if it was any of our kids, they’d be reprimanded so I think he should be reprimanded as well."
Phil told her: "I think the world seems to be reprimanding him at the moment, or certainly a lot of it."
Holly then said, of video clips of him at the afterparties dancing and joking: "He’s trying to clearly change the narrative of this story.
"We are humans, is there a moment ever when you know, something like that happens and you are not thinking about what you are doing?
"I find it really hard to talk about because every time I say something out loud, you're thinking in your own head there is absolutely no excuse for it, so I caveat everything I am about to say but for the sake of this conversation, just to talk around it. Humans make mistakes."
The viewer went on: "Yes there is a red mist, and you do feel anger and want to shout and scream for your partner, but at the same time he’s made a decision to physically act out."
Holly then confessed: "I am actually surprised he was allowed to sit back in the auditorium. After slapping somebody and walking up and doing that, I am surprised.
"I know that he was a nominee but I'm surprised he was allowed to sit back down, because if any other person had gone up and slapped the host, or anyone, even if they had slapped anyone in the building, they’d have been taken out, so I’m surprised it got as far as that."
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
