A well known ITV star is expected to replace Philip Schofield as a host on Dancing on Ice next year. Philip took to Instagram in May to announce that after more than 20 years on the daytime show, he was stepping down as a presenter on This Morning.
He had assured his fans that he was still going to be working with ITV and involved in other programmes, but a week later the presenter issued a statement admitting to an affair with a much younger colleague on the show. This was something he kept from his family, bosses, lawyers and agents2, reports Chronicle Live.
Following the confession, the 61-year-old left ITV with immediate effect, leaving organisers of the British Soap Awards just a few days to find a replacement host. This ended up being Jane McDonald, and, after she did such a great job, it was thought she might be set to take over Philip's former role on Dancing on Ice.
It was reported that executives at ITV were very impressed by her. However, it now seems that Stephen Mulhern could be the one to replace Philip, with some already reporting it as a done deal.
Stephen stepped in earlier this year to present alongside Holly on the show after Phillip tested positive for the coronavirus. Gambling.com has Stephen well ahead of the pack on odds of 1/2.
His nearest rival in the betting as things stand is Dermot O'Leary, who recently presented This Morning alongside Holly for two consecutive weeks, second on 6/4, and Alison Hammond on 2/1. Other runners and riders on the list include Rochelle Humes (5/2) and Josie Gibson (3/10, with Jordan Banjo, brother of Dancing on Ice judge Ashley, currently on 4/1.
