Holly Willoughby’s big budget show Freeze The Fear has 'no plans to return', it has been reported.
The action-packed show was the BBC's answer to I'm A Celebrity as the series, which was hosted by Holly and Lee Mack, saw a number of famous faces joined by the adventurer and motivational speaker Wim Hof in a bid to get over their fears.
Eight celebs including Alfie Boe, Chelcee Grimes, Owain Wyn Evans, Dianne Buswell, Tamzin Outhwaite, Patrice Evra, Gabby Logan, and Professor Green were transported to a unique environment, where their first task was to jump into an icy lake.
Holly's reality TV show marked the her return to the BBC after almost a decade, however, it seems as though the show may not be making a return anytime soon.
There are currently no plans underway for a second series of Freeze The Fear, according to The Sun.
A TV insider told the publication: "Since 2004 Holly has almost exclusively worked for ITV as one of the channel’s most prized presenters. So it was a big deal in the industry that she was hopping over to the BBC and showed she had real confidence in Freeze the Fear being a big success.
"But as it stands there’s been no work done on a second series. This time last year the team were months into pre-production and filming was just two weeks away.
"Never say never, but as it stands no decision has been made on the future of the show," they added.
Launching the show back in April, the BBC said: “The celebrities taking part will be tackling wild and death-defying challenges in Europe’s harshest conditions.
"It will be a journey of serious self-discovery in a bid to defeat their demons, from anxiety and insomnia to ongoing health conditions, and they will all need to dig deep to embrace the sub-zero temperatures.”
The show appeared to be a massive hit with TV fans straight off the bat as an average of 1.8million viewers tuned in to watch.
The Mirror has reached out to a BBC spokesperson as well as Holly Willoughby's representatives for comment on this story.
