Holly Willoughby's bond with Josie Gibson and why she's perfect This Morning replacement

Holly Willoughby will be joined by Josie Gibson upon her return to This Morning on Monday, ITV has announced.

The presenter is replacing Phillip Schofield who sensationally quit his role on the programme after admitting to lying about an affair with a much younger member of staff.

Phillip, 61, explained that he had been lying to ITV staff as well as Holly when he was quizzed over a relationship he had with a runner on the programme, who he met when he was 15.

Last week, Holly, 42, took to social media and said she was "hurt" by the claims.

Just a week after Phillip announced his immediate departure, his replacement and Holly's co-anchor has been announced as Big Brother legend, Josie.

Holly and Josie, 38, appear to have the perfect friendship, with the mum-of-one gushed over her soon-to-be co-star in an exclusive interview with the Mirror.

Josie said: "It's lovely, it's like being a part of another family, everyone looks after one another, it's lush, we've all got everyone's back.

"The women champion each other in my work, Holly [Willoughby] champions me, I love Holly.

"Alison champions me, everyone just looks out for one another and normally you wouldn't think it would be like that but everyone has each other's backs, it's really nice."

She went on to explain that being a part of This Morning is "all about experiences, you've got to enjoy it."

It appears they're no strangers to bantering with one another as Josie recently joked that she had named a pig after Holly during a segment on the show.

While she was filmed for a "pig walking" section of the show, Josie said: "This is Holly, and I've nicknamed her Holly Squillaby."

She added: "Come on Holly Squillaby into the river, let's cool down, I think Holly has fallen in love with me just like the other Holly.."

Last year, Josie explained that she was in "awe" of Holly during a chat with The Sun, saying: "Holly Willoughby, oh my goodness, what an amazing broadcaster she is.

"She is just effortless, I was in awe of her, I love Holly, she's got a very good energy … and funnily enough, me, Holly and Alison are all Aquarius women."

Meanwhile, fans have been calling for Josie to join the show on a more permanent basis for several years after having previously stepped in for Holly while she was ill.

One viewer said: "@Josiestweet how do we petition to make you regular presenter? #ThisMorning."

While a second penned: "What a treat it was today to have @Josiestweet on #Thismorning. Come on ITV make her a regular presenter, she was amazing. She lights up the screen and cheers everyone up. Amazing job Josie, well done."

"@ITV I hope you're reading all the positive tweets about the great job @Josiestweet did today presenting #ThisMorning . The people have spoken and there's a lot of love for her - please make her a regular presenter," commented another.

Reflecting previously on being asked to be a weekday presenter and step in for Holly, telling Schofield "I couldn't believe it, I thought they'd got the wrong number, Phil.

"Honestly, I said 'You've phoned Josie', but how surreal. I've grown up watching the show and now I'm sat alongside you."
