Holly Willoughby misses This Morning for new job as Rochelle Humes steps in and viewers hit out

Holly Willoughby was missing from This Morning on Monday as she ditches the show for a full week to do another high profile job on ITV.

Long-standing host Holly was absent for an extended period of time earlier this year when she flew off to Europe for a new BBC series, which turned out to be Freeze the Fear, which has been gripping BBC viewers over the past month. After returning to This Morning, she was then forced off air and pulled out of the Dancing on Ice semi-final when she tested positive for Covid.

And now she's off the ITV show again, with Rochelle Humes joining Phillip Schofield in the studio on Monday as Holly prepared for the launch of The Games, the new primetime show she is hosting every day this week. ITV have rebooted the format that was popular in Channel 4 in the early 2000s, when comedian Bobby Davro famously belly flopped into swimming pool from a great height during a diving challenge.

Holly is taking the reins of The Games alongside Freddie Flintoff, Alex Scott and Chris Kamara, with celebs taking part including The Wanted's Max George, Love Island stars Olivia Attwood and Wes Nelson and Mel B's daughter Phoenix Gulzar-Brown. Holly addressed her This Morning absence on Instagram, joking she'd had a career change, next to a video of her taking part in a cheer routine.

The presenter wrote: "Morning… going to miss my @thismorning family this week however I’ve had a change of career and become a Cheerleader… it was only a matter of time." But, while plenty of fans told Holly they couldn't wait to see her in action on The Games, This Morning viewers had a few things to say about taking a break from the show again.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "I swear Holly is always off on holiday," with a second tweeting: "Holly has been off more than she’s been on so far this year."
