Holly Willoughby appeared to surprise her co-host Phillip Schofield when she made a confession about driving abilities on This Morning. The hosting duo were back at the helm of the ITV daytime programme on Wednesday (September 7)
And they wasted no time in getting stuck into the chat on today's show discussing road sign mistakes during a section which they titled: "Have you spotted a mistake near you?" This was kicked off by an unfortunate mistake outside a school where 'school' had been misspelled - oops!
There was also a mini-roundabout sign mistake which flashed up on screen and it led to Holly making her own confession about driving. Giggling, the 41-year-old admitted: "Well, I'm not very good with, this is an awful thing [to say], I'm not very good with roundabouts anyway.
"And sometimes, I have been known to sit there and wait for someone to come along so then I know which way to go round or I just go straight over the middle... but you can't do that with big ones, they don't like that!"
Phillip appeared surprised and amused by his pal's admission live on air but joked: "Especially not the ones that have grass and trees!" And both the hosts were left surprised for a different reason as they kickstarted another two-and-a-half hour show. Wednesday's show began with Phil and Holly giggling between themselves leading to Phil swiftly explained the reason behind their laughter to viewers.
The 60-year-old TV star revealed that he and Holly had just noticed the studio's floor had been refurbished while they were away. He said: "We've only just looked down because neither of us were standing on the right mark and said, 'ooh, it's a new floor.'" Explaining how other distractions made them not realise the change earlier in the week.
Holly added: "This time, we're here and it's the first time you start looking around and you start noticing different things. It's a lovely new floor."
While on air today, Ofcom revealed that the show had been slapped with more than 100 complaints from unimpressed viewers. To mark Spin To Win's comeback on Monday (September 5), viewers had two chances to be chosen to play. The game usually sees a lucky fan of the show given the chance to win up to £3,000 with other, smaller prizes in between which has previously ranged from cash to trips out.
However, as Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, introduced the game, they revealed a new prize had been introduced. While cash prizes of £1,000 and £3,000 were still up for grabs on the wheel, energy bills were also added, meaning the show will pay the lucky winner's energy bills for four months if they land on it.
Then on Tuesday's show (September 6) the game switched energy bills to household bills. And viewers were surprised by the 'frightening' change as they took to social media to comment on how the Cost of Living crisis has come to people needing to win their energy bills being paid.
It has now been confirmed that broadcasting watchdog Ofcom received 170 official complaints from upset viewers. The Manchester Evening News contacted This Morning reps for comment.
