Holly Willoughby has insisted she was ‘completely sober’ during her appearance on the final ever episode of Celebrity Juice after she tumbled down the stairs.
The Keith Lemon-led show came to an end with a final episode this week, which also featured team captains Laura Whitmore and Emily Atack, Maya Jama, Big Narstie, Chris Ramsey, Will Mellor and Joey Essex.
Original team captains Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton also returned for the very special final episode.
Yet during the final challenge of the night Holly took a tumble down the stairs in a vibrant pin-striped purple suit.
Holly and co-host Phillip Schofield laughed about the moment on Friday morning’s instalment of This Morning, as Phil said it had ‘gone a little bit viral’.
He added: “It's something that I think has shown your competitive side to its fullest extent. This is the last ever Celebrity Juice.”
Holly replied saying she was ‘completely sober’, before explaining: “The final part of the game was if you could get this piece of cardboard from the back of the audience.
“I was not going to let go, even if it meant throwing myself down the stairs backwards, which is what happened.”
As Holly fell, Emily Atack and Will Mellor looked concerned but Holly was fine and carried on with the game.
Phillip teased: “You risked broken bones at Christmas. Missing the last show here. Because you wouldn't let go of a bit of cardboard,” but Holly justified her dedication as it was the final ever instalment of Celebrity Juice.
She said: “We were never going to win ever again, so it was really important.
“That show was a big part of my life for 14 years with lovely Keith Lemon and the gang.”
She went on to note how emotional the final episode turned at the end, as she said: “There was a moment with Keith right at the end – he always wore a bandage and his last shot of the night, he undid the bandage and underneath it quite simply sank ‘Fanks’.
“It broke my heart, bless him. Good times.”
Keith promised the final episode will be fun – but admitted he did get emotional as the show wrapped after 26 series.
“It’s a lot of fun and I got a bit emotional at the end. I don’t think that bit is in. I was in some kind of emotional bubble. It was a bit like a dream, but I was trying to cherish the day. I came off stage and just hugged my wife and teared up,” he said.
“It’s making me tear up now just thinking about it. It was a great ending and we just played all the classic games. And of course, there was a T-Rex there! Gotta have a T-Rex on ya last show haven’t ya? And do you know what I thought I’d be cool about it.”
