Holly Willoughby hints at Saturday morning TV return as part of nostalgic revival

Holly Willoughby has teased that she would love to return to Saturday morning TV with her co-host Phillip Schofield.

The 41-year-old presenter admitted to her This Morning co-host that she would “love” to return to weekend television, as they spoke about the revival of nostalgic TV shows such as Big Brother.

Holly’s revelation came after Phil announced that Neighbours will return, after it famously stopped filming and aired its last episode over the summer.

“Big Brothers coming back too and I can’t wait,” Vanessa Feltz added, as they spoke about beloved TV shows being revamped.

“Do you think this move to more nostalgic TV again, that there’s something in that?” Holly said.

“It’s comfort isn’t it,” Vanessa replied, “It’s something to look forward to, you know what you’re going to get.”

Phil joked that as there’s a demand for nostalgic TV that he and Holly should relaunch their former Saturday morning music show, CD: UK , which she co-hosted for a short time in Spring 2006 after replacing Cat Deeley.

“Maybe we should go back on Saturday mornings again?” Phil suggested, as Holly gasped in response and looked at the camera.

“Yes! Yes! Love that!” she exclaimed, as Phil joked: “I’ll polish off that broom cupboard.”

Holly also worked on several weekend shows over the years before she joined Dancing on Ice in 2006.

She starred on Ministry of Mayhem in 2004 on CiTV with In For a Penny’s Stephen Mulhern on Saturday mornings, before she started to take on ITV roles with Dancing on Ice, Celebrity Juice and The Xtra Factor.

In recent weeks, the duo came under fire for appearing to jump the queue during the Queen’s lying-in state in Westminster Hall.

However, Phil has addressed the allegations and said he doesn’t feel the need to apologise, even though over 79,000 people signed a petition to have the hosts removed from the ITV show.

On Dan Wootton's Tonight programme on GB News, Phillip explained: "Why would I apologise? You've already seen that 700 other journalists did exactly the same thing."

Despite not feeling the need to say sorry, Phillip admitted that the situation was “a shame.” He added: "I think that it was a shame that what happened, happened."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
