Holly Willoughby finally got involved in a freezing challenge in her BBC One show as she and co-host Lee Mack showed the celebrities how it was done. The new hosting duo were back on screens with Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof on Tuesday night (April 26).
Episode three of the six-part series saw the Dutch extreme athlete joined by his daughter, Laura, who spurred on the female contestants as she pushed them to their chilling limits in a barrel of freezing ice water. Meanwhile, her dad Wim backed the boys as they too took an icy barrel bath.
The stars - including ex-EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite, rapper Professor Green, former Manchester United footballer Patrice Evra, Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell, and TV presenter Gabby Logan all continued to push their mind and bodies to the limit in freezing cold temperatures with the help of Wim.
After enjoying a dip in the hot tub and heading back to their stunning - and warm - tepees in their very own mini-village, the famous faces didn't have to wait much longer for their next challenge. Heading out into the Italian Alps, Holly and Lee introduced the celebs to their next challenge, titled Snow Storm.
Lee said: "It's been designed with Wim's blessing of course to build up your tolerance to the cold as you'll be entering what can only be described as a bone-chilling snowstorm," as the comedian and his co-host stood next to industrial wind blowers.
The celebrities were split into two teams and in a series of one on one battles, they had to find their balance as they walked down icy beam while carrying a giant flag while being covered in the snow and ice that surrounded them. If they fell off the log, they had to return to the start and once at the end, they had to plant their flags and stand and take the full force of the cannons for 10 seconds.
But before the contestants got involved, Holly and Lee went head-to-head. The pair headed off for a quick change, with Holly reappearing wearing a white and black bobble hat, black leggings, polo neck and a white T-shirt which had "What would Wim do?" emblazoned across it.
As they braced themselves, Lee said: "This is horrible," before they had even started. They eventually got underway, screaming and screeching their way through and while Lee appeared to be ahead, he fell off the beam at the last second and a steady Holly took the victory.
As they jumped out of the way of the wind blowers, mum-of-three Holly, who was working on the show with her husband Dan Baldwin, whipped off her hat and goggles and cried that she had "brain freeze!" before admitting: "I'm out of breath!" Lee then turned to her and said: "That's hard right?" before Holly told the celebs: "You're going to hate it!"
It was then the celeb's turn to take part with the red team emerging victorious after a close final battle between former footballer Patrice and singer Alfie Boe, winning a takeaway pizza for their evening meal.
And Freeze the Fear viewers were quick to compare the challenge to that seen on ITV rival, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. @Tom_Muzzy_2001 tweeted: "I’m a celeb final vibes #FreezeTheFear."
@ADADAPPADAN said: "This snowstorm thingy's kinda like the BBC's, extreme version of ITV's (I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here) 'Celebrity Cyclone'... #FreezeTheFearWithWimHof #FreezeTheFear," to which @fibrojayne replied: "Yes but without the ice #FreezeTheFear."
