Holly Willoughby 'finding backstage gossip toxic' amid 'feud' with Phillip Schofield

Holly Willoughby is said to be finding the 'backstage gossip' about her and Phillip Schofield 'toxic', according to reports.

The This Morning host, 42, is said to have fallen out with Phil, 61, after their friendship 'cooled' in recent months – with the rift reportedly deepening after he released a statement about their relationship.

Holly is yet to say anything about the father-of-two, but has apparently 'had enough of all the drama surrounding Phil'.

A source said: "She's been finding all the backstage gossip really tough and toxic.

"All the controversy over 'queue-gate and the constant rumours about being replaced on the show have taken the shine off it all for Holly.

"She doesn't want stress in her professional life and she knows it doesn't have to be like this," reports Closer magazine.

Holly presented This Morning without Phil when he took time off for his brother's trial as Alison Hammond and Joel Dommett stepped in.

It's been alleged Phil kept Holly in the dark over his sibling facing child sex offences, of which Tim was found guilty and will be sentenced this week.

Sources suggest the drama surrounding the trial coupled with 'queue-gate' affected the audience's ability to connect to Phil and Holly as well as 'creating a disconnect with the viewers'.

Someone who doesn't see a the chemistry between the pair is former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes.

He reckons his ex colleagues should have won a BAFTA for 'best actors' after 'fooling the public'.

Speaking about the pair on GB News on Monday, he said: "I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors.

"They may or may not be together on the telly today. The public surely will suss that there's no chemistry, that it's a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.

"It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else."

Another former This Morning host who reportedly fell out with Phil is Fern Britton.

She was said to be 'sick of living in her co-host's shadow' before she quit the show and was replaced by Holly in 2009.

Fern sent viewers into a frenzy last night when she tweeted she'd just had a catch up with Eamonn in an apparent loaded comment.

Fans flocked to Twitter joking they had no clue what the presenter pals could have possibly been discussing.
