Holly Willoughby fans give advice as star struggles to explain Ukraine crisis to kids

Holly Willoughby said she 'didn't have answers' for some of her children's questions about the world's current events.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military attack on Ukraine, with reports of explosions near major cities across the country.

After the first day of war in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed at east 137 people have been killed and 316 injured, following the attacks. He declared martial law on the nation.

Taking to Instagram today, the This Morning presenter expressed her concerns about the crisis in Ukraine, as she shared an image of a military tank and soldiers.

She admitted she was struggling to explain what was happening in Europe to her three children - Harry, 12, Belle, nine, and Chester, seven, who she shares with her husband Dan Baldwin.

In an emotional update, Holly wrote: "How do I explain this to my children… I was asked questions last night I didn’t have the answers for…" followed by a heartbroken emoji.

Fans of the Dancing On Ice presenter took to the comments to offer their advice.

Jenny said: "Get them to watch Newsround. It explains things in such an age appropriate way. I honestly don’t understand things either - but hope Newsround can help!"

Nicola said: "You don’t have to. Don’t let your kids watch the news and let them enjoy being children and worry free. We don’t need to involve our children in every conversation. Some things are best discussed amongst adults. Xx"

Amy said: "None of us have the answers to the questions we are being asked. Just be honest, hold those you love close."

Other commenters also praised the star for using her platform to speak out about what is happening.

Katherine said: "Holly, I am a British born Ukrainian and we are living through hell watching this unfold. Our families have lost their homes and are being killed. Please please keep using your voice and social media platform to spread awareness."
