Holly Willoughby confirms This Morning interruptions as ITV react to Russia invading Ukraine

Holly Willoughby started Thursday's delayed This Morning by informing viewers of a series of important interruptions to the show in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

After fellow ITV show Good Morning Britain was dominated by coverage of the events unfolding in eastern Europe, the start of This Morning was delayed by a few minutes to allow for a breaking news bulletin from the ITV News desk.

Holly and co-host Phillip Schofield then went for a further update on the latest from Ukraine as they began the programme, after Holly explained that there would be interruption to the show's planned schedule.

She kicked off the how by saying: "Now, as you might have noticed, there's a slightly different schedule on ITV this morning.

"We'll be bringing you the latest on the situation in Ukraine via our colleagues at ITV News at both 11 o'clock and also at mid-day."

The This Morning Twitter account shared a post from ITV News outlining their planned coverage for the rest of the morning and afternoon, with it reading: "Ukraine invasion: Stay up to date with the latest developments from ITV News:

"Hourly updates on @ITV at 10am, 11am, noon and 1pm. Bulletins at 1.30pm, 6.30pm and 10pm."

A This Morning viewer replied: "Sad news. Thinking of people in Ukraine, stay safe."

A second posted: "It is very sad that there are still people with this mentality in the world. Willing to harm others for their own gain. It is quite sickening and my heart is with the people of Ukraine."
