Holly Willoughby left the This Morning studio today a bit earlier than usual to go and meet King Charles at Buckingham Palace. Holly left the ITV set early today, leaving Phillip Schofield to present the last half an hour of the show on his own but before she left, the pair had a bit of an awkward hug which left viewers talking.
The presenter said that she would be skipping out the studio earlier than usual for a very special event. She told viewers: "I had to put my posh dress on today because later on this afternoon I am heading to Buckingham Palace and there the King will be and we will get to introduce the award winners to the King so he can say well done."
Phillip said: "So you are off mid day-ish and I am holding the fort?" And just before she left the studio, Holly told Phil to ‘be good’ and they pair hugged as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
This week, viewers have been tuning in to the show to watch the pair present as they are supposedly 'feuding' when the cameras stop rolling. Holly has been said to be keen to cut ties with her former friend as their relationship has allegedly "cooled off" on the back of things like the 'queuegate' scandal last year and Phil's brother's sex abuse trial.
Viewers took to Twitter to talk about that awkward hug.
One wrote: "I just saw Phil and Holly hug and kiss like besties, full of s***."
Another added: "Oh come on! #ThisMorning."
While one said: "It was really kind of HM The King to save Holly Willoughby from having to endure more time with Phillip Schofield #ThisMorning."
