Holly Willoughby all smiles after ditching Phillip Schofield on This Morning for 'special day'

Holly Willoughby was pictured beaming after leaving This Morning early today (May 17) to meet King Charles III. The TV host, 42, made a quick dash from the ITV studios to head to an event at Buckingham Palace, as her co-host Phillip Schofield was left to present the remainder of the programme alone.

During her live appearance on the daytime show on Wednesday, Holly told viewers she'd be making a shorter appearance than usual. “I put my posh dress on today because later on this afternoon I am heading to Buckingham Palace and there the King will be, and we get to introduce the award winners to the King so he can say well done, which is all quite exciting isn’t it?”.

Phillip, 61, then said he was “holding the fort” before Holly responded with a “thank you”. It follows claims that the pair, who have fronted the show together for the last 14 years, are 'barely speaking' behind the scenes.

Despite the alleged feud, the presenting duo have since put on a united front whilst presenting This Morning together this week.

After reports of the pair’s relationship coming under strain, last week Phil told The Sun that Willoughby is his “rock”.

“We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone," he said.

“Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her. The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.”

Putting the drama behind her, Holly was all smiles as she met the King at Buckingham Palace alongside US actor Stanley Tucci for The Prince’s Trust Awards.

The This Morning host and the Hollywood star, who are both Prince’s Trust ambassadors, looked relaxed as they chatted to Charles at the special event.

Holly donned a yellow flowing dress with buttons up to her neck which complimented her blonde locks.

After the event, the mum-of-three took to Instagram to share a picture of herself smiling alongside the King, with the caption: "A very special day… @princestrust."

Holly's fans quickly rushed to support her, with one writing: "Stay strong Holly, you look amazing and beautiful."

Another added: "No matter wha'ts going on in ur world right now @hollywilloughby . Your real fans still love and adore you. This storm shall pass."

A third wrote: "You look absolutely stunning holly," as another follower commented: "Stunning Holly as always x."
