Many holidaymakers still fear the impact of Covid-19 on their break despite most travel restrictions easing. However, the rising cost of any trip is the main concern for travellers, according to a study.
The research was carried out by wellness brand Goodrays to find out what’s causing most travel anxiety this summer. Some 35 per cent of those polled are most worried about prices as well as delays and cancellations.
This is followed by concern over forgetting to take key travel items such as passports or tickets and long airport queues. Consumer expert, Jane Hawkes, shared her travel tips with Goodrays:
- Book tickets 12 weeks in advance (rail) and six weeks in advance (flights), book a cruise on a Thursday and package holidays on a Monday.
- To help keep you protected against cancellations, delays and Covid, travel insurance is key. Now more than ever, failing to organise appropriate insurance could be a very costly decision. The average cost of cover taken out via a comparison site can be 40-50 per cent lower than a policy bought directly from an insurer. Reduce the cost of the policy by increasing the excess, purchasing single trip insurance or family cover.
- We spend hours excitedly planning where to go and what to do but we’re not as keen to spend as much time checking the T&Cs. This is essential - not just in terms of cancellations and refunds policies - but to avoid any unforeseen extra charges. Always opt for accommodation providers which offer fair and flexible booking policies.
