A holidaymaker returned home to a nasty surprise after a six-week trip, with a rude note from a neighbour left on their doorstep.
A small typed-out note printed on a small piece of paper slammed the person for the state of their front garden and its lack of “maintenance”.
“Your garden is a disgrace!
“You should be ashamed. The previous owners kept it immaculate,” the note read.
The person went on to write of how the person’s front garden “devalues the property” as well as the values of those in surrounding areas.
The short letter was shared with a local Facebook page in Mandurah, Western Australia, called The Bell Tower Times, MailOnline reports .
An image of the note was posted along with the caption: “Getting back from a six-week holiday to find cute love letters”.
The post caught the attention of thousands of people, with more than 2,300 comments left on the post.
“How did they know their neighbour wasn’t in hospital or something, what?? How rude,” one person wrote.
Another said the author of the letter “think they’re so tough” but claimed they must have typed it out so they couldn’t be identified by their handwriting.
“I read this like a haiku for some reason,” a third person joked.
Another person said: “Out of spite I'm never doing it again, thank you.”
Another woman agreed with this sentiment, claiming that she “wouldn’t tidy up in a hurry” if she received the same note.
Last year The Mirror reported on a man who had similarly upset his neighbours with the state of his garden.
The man, known only as Jeremy from Ohio, moved onto his street a few years before and since then had worked tirelessly on modernising his home, replacing broken features and renovating the detached property.
To the front of his house, he has a large garden which he tends to fairly regularly, but he admits that during recent weeks it had been a little neglected as he was unable to mow it during stormy weather.
But he insists it was a long way from an eyesore, so he was shocked when he received an anonymous letter from a neighbour accusing him of devaluing all the homes on the street with his messy and unkempt garden.
The letter reads: "Dear Neighbour, for many years (street name) has been a beautiful street, with pretty homes and well-kept lawns.
"However, as the appearances of our homes deteriorate, so do our property values.
"Your lawn is full of weeds and dandelions, and seeds from those weeds will soon be blowing into the lawns around you. We take care of our lawns, and don't appreciate spending the money for weed control just to have seeds from your lawn coming into ours.
"Have a little consideration for you neighbours. It doesn't take a lot of time or money to keep your yard maintained.
"Would it be too much of your neighbours to ask that you kill the weeds and dandelions in your yard and pull the weeds in your flower beds?
"If your work schedule keeps you from keeping your property manicured, there are many economical lawn services available, and also teenagers who would appreciate the summer work. All of our property values depend on all of our neighbours.
"Spring is now here, and it is time to keep this neighbourhood looking good. We sincerely thank you!"
Sharing the letter on Reddit, Jeremy, from Ohio, went on to explain that he hadn't been able to mow the garden recently due to stormy weather.
Other users of the site were quick to condemn the woman's actions, describing her as a 'Karen'.
