Holiday chalet plans for popular venue approved after applicant overcomes flood warnings

Proposals to build new chalets at a popular Ayrshire venue have been given the go ahead.

Blueprints for eight holiday lodges at Lochside in New Cumnock were withdrawn in November last year after Scotland's leading environmental agency warned that one of the holiday homes will flood.

Now resubmitted drawings for seven chalets instead, addressing concerns from SEPA, have been approved by East Ayrshire Council planners.

The plush pods set to be built by The RAD Hotel Group are single storey, with two large double bedrooms, patio and hot tub.

Based within close proximity of the water’s edge of the Loch of the Lowes, the site area has largely been cleared and the new access track appears to be already largely constructed, according to planners.

Planning officers granted permission for the plans but attached 16 conditions to the development; a number of which relate to surveys to establish whether water voles, badgers and otters are on the site.
