Holby City's Lee Mead looks unrecognisable after shaving head for hair transplant

Holby City star Lee Mead looked completely unrecognisable after shaving his head for a hair transplant.

The theatre star went to Turkey to get a hair transplant and took to Instagram to share the process with his followers.

In the clip, he sat in a barber's chair as someone shaved off his hair and placed markings on his head ahead of the procedure.

He captioned the post: "Hair today gone tomorrow [smiling emoji] #Istanbul #HairTransplant."

Fans rushed to the comment section to share their support for him.

“Definitely a new look for you - but you're rockin' it! Hope all's going well,” a fan wrote to him.

Another added: "So brave to document this for other guys suffering with hair receding. You are amazing."

"Good luck. you have a beautiful face with or without hair btw X," one fan commented.

On Friday, he took to his page to share a clip of himself waiting at the airport after the hair transplant.

His head looked sore but he still smiled for the camera.

"Heading home with a cold head #Istanbul #HairTransplant," he captioned the post.

In the clip, he told the camera: "We are in Istanbul airport. We got a very different look to when I left London airport. I'm feeling sore as you can see on my head here and the back of my head.

"I'm a bit nervous about coming back to the UK, seeing friends and family and just being out and about with this new look because it's a completely new look isn't it?"

The star is already feeling 'more confident' (@leemead_official/Instagram)

He said: "I'm so pleased I had it done. I feel more confident already. I was saying to you before I had a good head of hair but I was hiding my receding areas quite well.

"I could've left it for the next two to three years but it's a personal thing, isn't it? Nothing wrong with being bald but, personally, for me I wanted to get my hair done."

Lee, who has a daughter with ex-wife Denise van Outen, found fame in BBC's Any Dream Will Do.

He took on the role of Ben 'Lofty' Chiltern for five years in Casualty and then in Holby City.

When the coronavirus lockdown hit, he revealed he was living off his saving as he didn't earn any money when the entertainment industry shut down.
