As you roam around Hogwarts Legacy you will discover a number of spells which can help you both in combat and in exploration. There is a wide variety, and each one you learn will be useful for something. We’ll be walking you through all the combat spells and helpful combinations you can use.
Here are all the options for spells, and the quests you need to complete to add them to your roster.
Hogwarts Legacy: All combat spells
Imperio
- Turns an opponent into an ally temporarily.
- Complete the side mission In the Shadow of Time to unlock.
Crucio
- Causes damage over time to a single enemy.
- Complete the side mission In the Shadow of the Study to unlock.
Avada Kedavra
- Instantly kills an enemy.
- Complete the side mission In the Shadow of the Relic to unlock.
Bombarda
- Deals heavy damage and causes an explosion.
- Complete Professor Howin’s Assignment to unlock.
Depulso
- Pushes opponents away with excessive force.
- Complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 to unlock.
Glacius
- Temporarily freeze and incapacitate enemies.
- Complete Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1 to unlock.
Incendio
- Fires out flames in a short area in front of you.
- Complete Professor Hecat’s Assignment 1 to unlock.
Accio
- Pull enemies towards you.
- Complete Charms Class to unlock.
Levioso
- Raise enemies into the air.
- Complete Defense Against the Dark Arts Class to unlock.
Expelliarmus
- Disarms opponents.
- Complete Professor Hecat’s Assignment 2 to unlock.
Confringo
- Casts a ball of fire.
- Complete the main mission In The Shadow of the Undercroft to unlock.
Flipendo
- Flips enemies 360 upside down.
- Complete Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2 to unlock.
Arresto Momentum
- Slows enemies.
- Complete Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 2 to unlock.
Transformation
- Turns an enemy into an inanimate object.
- Complete Professor Weasley’s Assignment to unlock.
Descendo
- Slams an enemy into the ground.
- Complete Professor Onai’s Assignment to unlock.
Diffindo
- Fires out a severing slash.
- Complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 2 to unlock.
Hogwarts Legacy: Best spells to use
While many of these spells are powerful in their own right, they become even more powerful when used in the right combination.
Individually the strongest spells in Hogwarts Legacy are Avada Kedavra, Confringo, Imperio, Crucio, Depulso, Levioso, Flipendo, Diffindo, Accio, and Descendo.
Talents further buff these spells and can add some powerful effects, especially to the unforgivable curses. These allow you to build up curse damage on a large number of enemies before taking them all out with the killing curse.
If you don’t want to dabble in the dark arts, then you will want to focus on aerial attacks. There are also a number of talents that allow your lifting spells to grab groups of enemies. Your basic case is a four-hit combo, and the final hit launches the enemy. After every three hits, you should try to land one of your other spells.
A strong aerial combo can be:
- 1 x Levioso
- 3x basic cast
- 1x Accio
- 3x basic cast
- 1x Flipendo
- 3x basic cast
- 1x Descendo
The more you practice these basic combos the better you will get at combining them together.
