The Hockeyroos have overcome a gritty South Africa to power away for a 5-0 win and maintain their perfect start to the Commonwealth Games.
It took just three minutes for Penny Squibb to open the scoring but from there, Australia couldn't create a goal until the 32nd minute.
Squibb finished with two goals, 100-gamer Kaitlin Nobbs scored with a penalty stroke while Renee Taylor and Steph Kershaw also scored.
"Really good. We had some really good attacking play, really good defensive play," Squibb said.
"(We're) taking it game by game and not looking too far ahead."
The Hockeyroos took the lead through a lovely routine from a penalty corner.
Greta Hayes found Jane-Anne Claxton, who laid the ball off to Squibb, who rifled a wonderful drag flick into the bottom corner.
But from there, South Africa mounted a stern defence, led by brilliant goalkeeper and captain Phumelela Mbande, while the Hockeyroos lacked some polish around goal.
Australia had three penalty corners late in the first quarter which were all denied, while they rued missed opportunities that kept the score at 1-0 at half-time.
For all their defensive sturdiness, South Africa created little going the other way.
The Hockeyroos came out of the main break breathing fire and they broke through in the 32nd minute when Taylor flicked home a penalty corner.
Two minutes later, skipper Grace Stewart created an opportunity for Kershaw to tap home.
In the 46th minute, Australia earned a penalty stroke after Shanea Tonkin's effort was denied on the line and Nobbs coolly converted.
Squibb put an exclamation mark on the victory two minutes later, firing a drag flick into the top corner.
The Hockeyroos will return to action against New Zealand, who beat them in the 2018 gold medal match, on Tuesday.
"It's always a good match against New Zealand," Squibb said.
"I mean, we play them a fair bit so we know each other inside and out.
"But it's an international match, it's always good fun."
