HMS Queen Elizabeth has left Liverpool Cruise Terminal to continue its voyage to Scotland.
The largest warship ever built for the British Navy arrived in Liverpool on March 24. The mighty 65,000-tonne ship is out of port from Portsmouth on training exercises and is due to continue north to Glen Mallen on the Clyde in Scotland for a routine logistics visit.
The 280-metre ship departed the cruise terminal at 9am this morning and continued past Crosby and Formby. According to information from Peel Ports, the warship will reach open water around 10.40am.

A controlled zone of 250m either side of HMS Queen Elizabeth will be maintained while the ship leaves the Mersey. An exclusion zone 800m ahead of the ship will also be enforced in which only harbour tug boats assigned to assist the vessel are allowed to enter.
Ministry of Defence patrol craft were tasked with patrolling the controlled and exclusion zone.

People could be seen gathering in Wirral, on Crosby Beach and at the Cruise Terminal to catch a first glimpse at the ship.
